Elizabethan Couture: Alexander McQueen Fall 2013
It was one of the most surreal moments in fashion history. The late Lee McQueen is known for his gripping extravaganzas. Sarah Burton showed one of the most beautiful shows in Fall 2013 with a homage to one of the most important women in British fashion and history. Elizabeth I: The Virgin Queen. The pregnant creative director just showed a ten-piece collection. Despite the minimal amount of pieces, the craftsmanship was beyond couture.
The show opened with a silk dress embroidered with hundreds of pearls. The other pieces were embellished with more pearls, cobweb laces, ostrich and duck feathers, and jeweled fishnet tights. An element of sexiness was added with jeweled sky high heels, leather gloves and an intricate headpiece made from criss-crossed crystals and pearls.
It was a celebration of art, femininity, and power.

The Literature and History graduate does not have any training in fashion, but she is one of the primary forces that dictates the tides of the fashion world. Her genius is unpredictable, unrivaled, and unparalleled. One season she will set a trend of over-sized jackets and the next, she will completely ignore it by showing deconstructed white pieces.
For fall 2013, the queen of Japanese avant-garde prevented a collection filled with intricate rose ruffles, power shoulders, tailored jackets, and graphic prints.

Couture is not just all about intricate bead-work, complicated draping, razor-sharp tailoring, and use of expensive materials. Couture is about concept, art, and execution. The team behind Maison Martin Margiela presented a breathtaking collection for its second couture line.
The Maison sent an army of faceless models, a classic Margiela act. The newest member of the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture stunned the Parisian fashion scene with the use of unconventional techniques and materials like paint-splatters, feather, excess fabrics, and tinsels for its new collection.

CHANEL SPRING 2013 COUTURE
Spring 2013 Couture is all about beautiful blooms. While Raf Simons presented an ultra-modern, yet ultra chic flower-inspired collection for the House of Dior yesterday, Karl Lagerfeld proved the world that he is still the unparalleled king of French Couture. The Kaiser sent an army of models clad in iconic tweed coats, tulle dresses, lace ensembles, and floral gowns.
